version90 gives every contract an immutable version history and a complete change record. Each draft — yours or theirs — is preserved byte-for-byte; every edit is a real Word tracked change with an author; every accept and reject is logged. The current version is never a matter of opinion.
The version problem, solved at the root
Version chaos isn't a discipline problem, it's a tooling problem. When the "system of record" is a folder, the record is whatever people remembered to put there, named whatever they were feeling that day. version90 makes the record automatic: documents become versions the moment they arrive, versions are immutable, and the newest one is unambiguous because the system — not a filename — says so.
What "immutable" actually means here
Received files are stored exactly as sent, hash and all. Redlining never rewrites history: your edits produce a new version whose parent is the one you edited. If a dispute ever hinges on "what did they send us on March 3rd," you can produce that exact file — not a reconstruction of it.

Redlining that stays inside the Word format
Browser editors that "support Word" usually mean they'll import it, mangle the numbering, and export something your counterparty's lawyer will ask questions about. version90 edits the .docx surgically: your typing, deletions, formatting, new clauses and list renumbering are spliced into the file as genuine Word revision markup. What leaves version90 is a normal Word document with normal tracked changes — because it is one.
Decisions are staged, then applied — never dribbled
Work through a 40-change redline the way you actually think: stage accepts and rejects, edit text inline, leave some for later, change your mind twice. The document updates once, when you apply — one clean new version instead of forty micro-versions of noise.
Lifecycle, not folders
Contracts move through explicit states — in progress, with counterparty, at signature, done — with a clear "whose turn is it" flag. Your queue shows what's waiting on you; the archive holds what's finished. Nothing lives in someone's downloads folder.
7.Term and Termination

Frequently asked questions
How does version90 keep track of contract versions?
Every document that enters version90 — uploaded or emailed — becomes an immutable version with a cryptographic hash. Versions are never edited in place: your redlines create a new version, the counterparty's return creates a new version, and the full chain is preserved byte-for-byte. You can download any version, at any point, exactly as it existed.
Are version90's tracked changes real Word tracked changes?
Yes. Edits made in the browser are written into the .docx file as native Word revision markup (w:ins/w:del), attributed to the editor by name and organization. When your counterparty opens the file in Microsoft Word, they see ordinary tracked changes — they can't tell you didn't use Word, except the numbering is intact.
What is staged review in version90?
Accepting, rejecting, editing, and formatting are staged in the interface first — like a shopping cart for decisions. Nothing touches the document until you click Apply, which commits everything as one new version. You can experiment freely and discard without consequence.
Can I see who changed what in a contract?
Every change carries its author, and every accept/reject decision is recorded with the person who made it and when. The activity log is append-only — the answer to 'who agreed to this?' is a lookup, not an investigation.
